“ Wow, what a great find! Excellent pork buns! Hopefully they are consistently good. Tried them a second time and unfortunately the buns are not consistent. Second time had much less meat. Though it's still good. Because I prefer my bun to not be filled with too much thick sweet sauce and less fat chunks. I've been in and out of here over the many years it's been open, but this is the first time I actually tried their roast pork bun. This place gives other top contenders a run for their money! You know who you all are with your line of customers waiting down the block for your buns, for an hour. I was rather blown away by Tai Pan's roast pork bun. It had just come out of the kitchen, still warm. The best time to eat it! Filled with a surprisingly good amount of pork, lightly slathered in sauce, and the most important part, barely any big chunks of fat. No fat and it still tastes great! Also it is not too sweet and overly sauced like some other places. Customer service can be rather brusk. Multiple cashiers occasionally randomly helping customers, so pay attention when it's your turn. There are several small tables in the front and back of the store. Usually all are taken. If you live in Queens, now there is no need to travel far and wait on line for 1+ hour just for a good roast pork bun. Just get yourself over to Tai Pan! ”

“ Tai Pan Bakery has been in NY Chinatown and Flushing over 3 decades. They make the Asian pastries like roasted pork bun, red bean bun, egg custard tarts, fruit cakes. Most them are baked but a few buns come steamed. Of course, something like Sesame balls is deep fried. Then they expanded into various flavors of slushes in Taro, mango, strawberry, Kiwi, various versions of soy milk like almond walnut soy milk, barley soy milk, etc. Additionally, they do cater with hot and cold dishes! We love to go to Tai Pan Bakery because most items are light and puffy. They are less sweet than Western desserts. Yes, they have several small tables but they are typical no frills Chinese Bakery. You grab a tray and a tong to pick up what you want. Some items are in the display case, employee will retrieve for you. You just play at the cashier. Our Tai Pan favorites are roasted pork bun, lemon raisin twist and egg custard tarts. ”

“ Tai Pan is a Flushing (or anywhere else it's also located at) staple and has been here for years. I remember this place ever since I moved permanently to New York and that was 10 years ago. The last time I visited was probably a few years back but hey, I still pass by there all the time. Their pastries are consistent - after all, they sort of have to be at this point. They have been doing this for years! Despite being bigger and providing seating, Tai Pan is your typical no-frills Chinese bakery with the classics - egg tarts (danh tat), roast bork buns (char siu bao), and more. ”

“ My second time here in flushing, NY and I wanted to get some Chinese bakery to take home and I yelped and this bakery was recommended. Right when you walk in, you go and grab a tray and tongs to grab the pastries with. Pastries all look so fresh and delicious. Next, if you want to order something else like egg tarts, the employees will help and grab those for you. Service is really quick and easy. And you just pay at the end at the cashier station. Bakery is organized and clean. Highly recommend coming here if you are in the mood for pastries. I ordered hot dog bun, pineapple bun, coconut cream cake and egg tarts and they were all delicious. ”

“ This is my family's go to place for the classic fruit cake that your Chinese parents like because it is "not too sweet." Their fruit cakes are spongey and my Chinese parents approved I've never tried their other pastries so I don't know if they are any good. ”

“ Excellent bakery with a long history. Been servicing the area since I was a little kid. Still the best Chinese bakery even with all the newcomers. Seating is impossible to get unless you hover over the tables for more than 10 minutes. Very crowded with locals and tourists even on weekdays. You would see people from far away ordering a ton of stuff for the long trip home on a regular basis. ”

“ This is a very popular bakery on Canal St, and on the weekends, there are lots of people. Figuring out how the line worked here was not straightforward. Even if you are just getting the foods displayed in the fridge, you still need to place an empty tray for them to take an order from you. I thought this was both kind of dumb and clever at the same time. The bakery items are quite cheap. I got the chestnut cake, which was pretty big and was only $4.25. The green tea egg tart was also quite delicious, and I definitely want to stop by again to get that. ”
